We hike on Velika Planina in the afternoon, where high mountain herders’ culture is still very much alive. We wrap up the day in the natural paradise valley of Logarska in the heart of Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

We stay in the boutique Hotel Plesnik with a spa.

We hike to Rinka waterfall and up to the Okreselj mountain hut in the Kamnik Savinja Alps.

We return to  Hotel Plesnik.

Day 4: Logarska valley – BIKE Karavanke Alps – Lake Bled

We start the day by driving on a scenic mountain road around Kamnik-Savinja Alps (with a short crossing through Austria) to reach the western region of Slovenia. In the afternoon, we cycle through the scenic countryside at the foot of the Karavanke Alpine range and through small villages with typical Oberkrainer Alpine architecture.

We finish the ride at Lake Bled.

Our accommodation tonight is Hotel Triglav.

Day 5: Bled – Triglav National Park HIKE – Radovljica town and Bled

Today we climb Mt Debela Pec in the heart of the Julian Alps. The summit offers a panoramic view over Mt Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain.

In the afternoon, we return to  Lake Bled to enjoy the town’s superb spa or take a picturesque walk around this stunning lake.

Dinner is served at one of Slovenia’s oldest restaurants (a 15th-century house) located in the medieval part of town, Radovljica. Before dinner, we visit the nearby ginger hearts museum and learn about Oberkrainer Alpine culture and the traditional lifestyle of people in Alpine Slovenia, Austria, and Germany.

We stay at  Hotel Triglav.

Day 6: Lake Bohinj BIKE

We drive to Lake Bohinj, a wilder brother of Lake Bled, Slovenia’s prime outdoor area within Triglav National Park. We cycle on the beautiful backroads through local villages all the way to the crystal-clear lake.

We stay at a brand new hotel, the Hotel Bohinj.

Day 7: Lake Bohinj HIKE

We hike in the mountains above Lake Bohinj and visit the local shepherds’ communities.

We return tonight to Hotel Bohinj.

Day 8: Lake Bohinj – Vrata Alpine valley HIKE and Pericnik waterfall – Lago di fusine Italy – Kranjska Gora

We hike through the Vrata valley at the foot of the mighty Northern wall of Mt Triglav (Slovenian Yosemite) and climb the picturesque Pericnik waterfall. We wrap up the day at Kranjska Gora town. If time allows, we visit the scenic Lago di Fusine Lake just across the border in Italy.

Day 9: Kranjska Gora – Soca Valley HIKE – Bovec

We drive to Vrsic Pass, one of Europe’s most scenic mountain roads. We then hike to Sleme, a superb viewpoint in the Julian Alps. We continue to the exquisite Soca valley by car, famous for its emerald river and natural mountain environment. Lunch is with a local family growing organic veggies. The artisans here make goat and sheep cheese. We tour the many natural sights in Soca valley and finish in Bovec, the adventure center of Slovenia. Our accommodation is at the Dobra Vila.

We finish the day in the Brda-Colio Wine Country, located on the border with Italy, a scenic hilly country rich in vineyards, orchards, and medieval towns.

Tonight we are staying at either Hotel Gredic or Hotel San Martin.

Day 11: Brda Wine Country BIKE – Vipava Wine valley – Predjama castle – Ljubljana

In the morning, we cycle and make a stop for wine tasting. We continue the day to lush green Vipava Valley for more wine sampling and lunch at the local agriturismo in a 600 years old village.
